Frankenstein it

Cut the best parts out of your references and stitch them into new page variants. The nav from one, the hero from another, the cards from a third. Every part keeps its link.

Frankenstein it works the way a designer slices a swipe file. You (or your agent) cut parts out of the UI references on a board, then stack them into new pages, several variants at once. Light next to dark is fine. It is for ideas over one page, not a finished design.

Frankenstein it: a landing page from my board. Nav from the dev tool page,
hero from the coffee site, cards from anything.
  1. Pick the board, the platform and one page type.

The agent uses the board from the chat, or lists yours. Page types: a landing page or pricing page for a website, a dashboard home for a web app, a home screen for mobile. You need about 6 usable UI references; with fewer, the agent offers to explore first.

  2. Look and slice with cut_parts.

For each reference, the agent picks the one or two parts worth stealing and cuts each with:

    • a role: nav, hero, logos, features, cards, gallery, stats, testimonial, pricing, cta, form, faq, content, footer (web); sidebar, toolbar, table, chart, filters (web app); status-header, tabbar, list, detail, sheet, empty (mobile); or other
    • a crop as fractions of the image: { "x": 0, "y": 0.04, "w": 1, "h": 0.18 }
    • a theme: light, dark or unknown
    • a note starting with steal:

It aims for 2 to 4 candidates per role from at least 4 different sources, so variants really differ. Up to 24 cuts per call; the library holds 80 parts per board.

  3. Stack with frankenstein_page.

Either a recipe of roles plus 3 or 4 variants (the server fills each role from the library and mixes at least 3 sources per variant when it can), or explicit rows of part ids when you dictated the parts. Frames are sized for the platform: 390px mobile, 834px tablet, 1440px website and web app.

  4. Judge and fix.

The agent checks rhythm (no three busy bands in a row), hierarchy (one hero), contrast jumps, seams, and source spread (no two neighbors from the same site). It fixes with update_frankenstein and remixes with remix_frankenstein. Two rounds at most: ideas, not polish.

  5. Present.

A numbered skeleton per variant: role, what it steals, and the source link for every slot.

  6. Hand off.

FRANKENSTEIN.md (Free) and frankenstein-wireframe.html (Pro). See Export.

Platform and page Recipe, top to bottom
Website, landing nav, hero, logos, features, cards, testimonial, cta, footer
Website, pricing nav, hero, pricing, faq, cta, footer
Web app, dashboard sidebar beside a toolbar, then stats, chart, table (as explicit rows: widths: [1, 4])
Mobile, home status-header, hero (or detail), list, cards, tabbar
Tablet The mobile recipe for app screens, the website recipe for sites

Roles with no good parts are left out, not filled with weak ones.

Many agents cannot see images from a URL. Then the agent says so once, cuts by role only and the server guesses a band:

Role Guessed band
nav Top 0 to 8% (0 to 4% on tall full page shots)
hero The next 35% (15% on full page shots)
footer, tabbar The bottom 10%
status-header Top 0 to 14%
sidebar The left 18%, full height
everything else The middle band

Guessed parts are flagged guessedCrop, notes start with guessed:, and each guessed slot is marked “(guessed crop)” in the reply. Fix them on the board (Recrop) or tell the agent where things sit: “the pricing cards sit in the middle third”.

Each Frankenstein page frame has three views. Switch them with the radio group on the frame, or ask “show it as a wireframe”.

View What it shows Use it to
Collage The parts as they are. Default Judge the idea
Wireframe Grayscale, softened, with role labels Judge structure and rhythm
Even Dark parts inverted, everything a little desaturated, one theme Judge it as one page

Love the nav and hero of variant 2? Say “keep the nav and hero, remix the rest, 3 takes”. The agent calls remix_frankenstein with lock: ["nav", "hero"] and count: 3. New frames appear right of the original, titled “…, remix 1”, “…, remix 2”. vary limits which roles change. The same call always gives the same result.

  1. Focus or select an image on the board.
  2. Press M (or right click) and choose Cut part.
  3. Drag the crop handles, or type the numbers: From left, From top, Width, Height, in percent of the image.
  4. Pick the role and the theme (Not sure, Light, Dark), add a steal note, save.

The part lands in the tray’s Parts tab.

Format File Plan What it holds
stitch_md design/explorations/<slug>/FRANKENSTEIN.md Free A skeleton per Frankenstein page: each slot’s role, steal note and source link, plus build guidance: take the structure, not the pixels, and unify to one theme
wireframe_html design/explorations/<slug>/frankenstein-wireframe.html Pro A standalone low fi wireframe: grey boxes per slot with role labels and notes, a sources list, no reference images
  • Directorydesign/explorations/editorial-landing/
    • FRANKENSTEIN.md
    • frankenstein-wireframe.html
    • BUILD-PROMPT.md lists the Frankenstein pages

When the board has Frankenstein pages, BUILD-PROMPT.md lists them so a coding agent can build from a skeleton.
