ChatGPT can use GoBanana’s tools as a custom app (connector) built on MCP, through developer mode on the ChatGPT web app. There is no ChatGPT plugin with skills, so give it the one line below: it tells ChatGPT to fetch the playbook with get_playbook.

Who can do this

Per OpenAI’s help article “Developer mode and MCP apps in ChatGPT”: on Business, only admins and owners can turn on developer mode and add an app; on Enterprise and Edu, admins can grant developer mode to chosen people; Pro users turn on developer mode themselves to use custom apps. Plan rules change often; if you do not see the option, ask your workspace admin.

Add GoBanana

1. Open Settings, then Apps (some accounts show Apps and connectors or Connectors), then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode. If it is not there, look under Settings, Security.

2. Choose Create (some accounts show Add custom connector or Add MCP server). Fill in:

   • Name: GoBanana
   • Description: Wild design directions, linked references and a moodboard canvas for one page. The model reads it to decide when to use the app.
   • MCP server URL: https://gobanana.fun/api/mcp
   • Authentication: OAuth. Leave the client ID and secret empty.

3. Save. ChatGPT opens the GoBanana sign in page; sign in. ChatGPT then scans the tools. The app is saved as a draft labeled Dev.

4. In a new chat, open the tools menu, pick Developer mode, and turn on GoBanana.

5. Ask: “Use the GoBanana ping tool.” It should reply “Connected to GoBanana as you@example.com.”

Give it the playbook

Paste this once at the start of a chat, or save it in a project’s instructions:

Use the GoBanana tools. Before you start, call get_playbook with name
gobanana-explore and follow it exactly. When it names another playbook, call
get_playbook for it. Show every reference with its source link.
Never download or copy images.

Notes

• ChatGPT asks you to confirm tool calls that change data. Read the confirm for delete_canvas carefully: it cannot be undone.
• ChatGPT may show tool results (structuredContent) to the model, so opening a large board adds tokens to the chat. GoBanana keeps that part small and sends the full board to the canvas view only.
• A workspace admin can publish the app so it appears in the workspace’s approved list.

What was verified

On 2026-10-12 the steps were compared with OpenAI’s help article (summary, the page itself blocked automated reading) and several current vendor guides, which agree on the flow but name the menus differently. GoBanana’s endpoint was checked to answer with a standard OAuth challenge and to support dynamic client registration, which ChatGPT uses. Adding the app in ChatGPT and whether the board shows inline there were not tested. If the board does not show, open the web link in the reply.
