Hand off to your coding agent

The scoped harness pack - DIRECTION.md, BUILD-PROMPT.md, REVIEW.md, DESIGN.md, Cursor rules, Copilot instructions, CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md sections - and how each tool picks it up.

Say “hand this off” (or “Cursor rules for this”, “prompt for v0”). The gobanana-handoff skill exports the kept direction as files your coding tools read on their own, and writes them into your repo.

Every file is page scoped by default (scope: "page"). It applies only to the pages you name, inherits your project’s design system, and does not change it. Each file opens with the same block:

Scope: one wild page, not the product design system. Applies only to: pricing page, /launch. Files: **/pricing/**, **/pricing.*, **/launch/**, **/launch.*. This inherits the project’s own design system and its existing DESIGN.md, and does not change them. Tokens here are page level overrides: use them only inside these pages.

Pass pages as route names, routes or globs, up to 5: "pricing page", "/launch", "app/pricing/**". Names become globs like **/pricing/**; paths and globs are kept as you wrote them.

scope: "system" exists for when you really want the direction to become your product’s system. The skills only use it when you say so in so many words (“make this our design system”). Then DESIGN.md goes to the project root and the rules are global.

  • Directorydesign/explorations/frosted-sleeve/
    • DIRECTION.md the full visual spec (Free)
    • BUILD-PROMPT.md one prompt for any tool (Free)
    • DESIGN.md scoped tokens as overrides (Free)
    • REVIEW.md checklist for build then critique (Pro)
    • FRANKENSTEIN.md skeletons of Frankenstein pages (Free)
    • frankenstein-wireframe.html grey box wireframe (Pro)
    • Directorykit/
      • tokens.json override tokens, W3C DTCG (Pro)
      • theme.css Tailwind theme for the page (Pro)
  • .cursor/rules/gobanana-frosted-sleeve.mdc Cursor rule with globs (Pro)
  • .github/instructions/gobanana-frosted-sleeve.instructions.md Copilot, with applyTo (Pro)
  • AGENTS.md one marked section, merged (Pro)
  • CLAUDE.md one marked section, merged (Pro)

frosted-sleeve is the direction’s slug, made from its title.

File What it holds
DIRECTION.md Pattern, signature component, typography, color, layout, imagery, motion, texture, icons, density, what to steal, what to avoid, why it fits, and every source link
BUILD-PROMPT.md One prompt to paste anywhere: the pages, the platform, the spec, the constraints, and “done when”. Lists Frankenstein pages when the board has them
DESIGN.md Google Labs DESIGN.md format. Colors in the front matter are ship only. Lints with npx --yes @google/design.md@0.4.0 lint
REVIEW.md A pass or fix checklist: one item per spec line, every avoid line, plus WCAG 2.2 AA contrast and target size
Cursor rule The rules, with globs set to your pages, so the rule attaches when you edit those files
Copilot instructions The rules, with applyTo set to your pages
AGENTS.md / CLAUDE.md section Which pages, where the files are, ship vs explore, never copy reference images, done when REVIEW.md passes

Claude Code reads CLAUDE.md at the root and in folders it works in. The GoBanana section points to @design/explorations/<slug>/DIRECTION.md. If your CLAUDE.md already imports @AGENTS.md, the AGENTS.md section is enough.

CLAUDE.md
<!-- gobanana:frosted-sleeve -->
## Wild page: Frosted sleeve (GoBanana)
Applies only to `app/checkout/**`. Inherits our design system. Does not change it.
When you work on these files:
- Read @design/explorations/frosted-sleeve/DIRECTION.md first.
- Use the token overrides in design/explorations/frosted-sleeve/DESIGN.md for these pages only.
- Only `ship` colors carry text. `explore` colors are concept only.
- Do not edit shared components, global CSS or tokens for this page. Make page-local variants.
- Never copy reference images into the repo.
- When done, grade the page against design/explorations/frosted-sleeve/REVIEW.md (gobanana-critique).
<!-- /gobanana:frosted-sleeve -->
  1. Picks the direction and pages. From the chat or get_canvas. It maps page names to your real routes when it can see the code (app/pricing/page.tsx).
  2. Detects your tools from repo signs and says which it found: CLAUDE.md or .claude/ (Claude Code), .cursor/ (Cursor), .github/instructions/ or copilot-instructions.md (Copilot), AGENTS.md (Codex), lovable-tagger in package.json (Lovable).
  3. Exports with export_kit: always direction_md, build_prompt and review, plus the format for each tool it found.
  4. Writes each file at its returned path, creating folders.
  5. Merges into AGENTS.md and CLAUDE.md between <!-- gobanana:<slug> --> and <!-- /gobanana:<slug> -->. Text outside the markers stays byte for byte. It shows you the diff.
  6. Reports the file list and one line on scope.
  • AGENTS.md and CLAUDE.md are never overwritten. Only the marked section is added or replaced.
  • .github/copilot-instructions.md, your root DESIGN.md, tokens, theme and global CSS are never touched in page scope.
  • Files under design/explorations/<slug>/ and the per slug Cursor and Copilot files belong to GoBanana. On a second export the agent shows the diff and asks before replacing them.
  • No reference images in the repo. The files link to sources.

review, cursor_rules, copilot, agents_md, claude_md, tokens, tailwind and wireframe_html are Pro. On Free, one export_kit call returns the free files and a plan message for the rest. The skill writes DIRECTION.md and BUILD-PROMPT.md (and DESIGN.md if asked), shows the message once, and reminds you that BUILD-PROMPT.md works in any tool by pasting it. If you ask, it adds a two line pointer to your AGENTS.md or CLAUDE.md by hand, inside the markers.

Skill Say Writes
gobanana-design-md “DESIGN.md for this page” Scoped DESIGN.md, then lints it (3 rounds of fixes at most)
gobanana-agents-md “AGENTS.md”, “rules for coding agents” The AGENTS.md section, and CLAUDE.md if you have one
gobanana-asset-kit “asset kit”, “tokens for this page” kit/00-readme.md to kit/06-sources.md: tokens, Tailwind theme, safe gradients, one open licence font pairing, one icon set (Lucide or Phosphor)

Next: Build then critique.
